Send a message
Ask a question or write to City Council
Pick who your message is for, and we’ll send it straight to that team.
Your message may be public. Correspondence with the City is subject to public disclosure under the Public Records Act (RCW 42.56). Unless an exemption applies, the City may have to release your name and the information you send if someone requests it. Comments about upcoming Council agenda items become part of the public record and meeting minutes.
Questions before you write
Which form should I use?
If something needs fixing at a specific place, like a broken water line, a blocked storm drain, a tree hazard, a parking problem or a missed pickup, use the Report an Issue form. For questions about your bill or a permit, or to share your views with City Council, use the contact form.
Is my message public?
It can be. Under Washington’s Public Records Act (RCW 42.56), the City may have to release messages, including your name and contact details, when someone requests them, unless an exemption applies. Reports of issues can be sent without your name.
When will I hear back?
Your message goes to the team you chose, and they reply during business hours. If you need an answer about your utility account sooner, call 360-487-7999 and press 0 during office hours.
What if it’s an emergency?
Call 911. Online forms aren’t monitored around the clock, so don’t use them for fires, crimes in progress, medical emergencies or anything that puts someone in danger.
Are there other ways to share my opinion with the City?
Yes. Be Heard Vancouver is the City’s online space for surveys and feedback on projects and plans. You can also comment on upcoming City Council agenda items through the contact form above.
